Call it the World Cup of the Northshire. Next Thursday, October 16th and Saturday, October 18th, four local squads face-off in the Annual Manchester Elementary Middle School (MEMS) Soccer Tournament.
The games held at Manchester’s Dana L. Thompson Memorial Park feature Girls and Boys middle school teams from Maple Street, Flood Brook and Long Trail. The host team, fresh off championships in the Twin Valley Tournament, includes footballers from both MEMS and The Dorset School.
“The purpose is to give these middle school teams a fun opportunity with an end-of-the-season tournament,” says Taconic & Green Athletic Director Pat Whalen. “We look forward to eight exciting matches.”
Thursday, October 16 First Round Matches:
3:30 PM: Flood Brook Girls vs MEMS/Dorset Girls (McClellan Field)
3:30 PM: Maple Street Girls vs Long Trail Girls (Eckhardt Field)
4:45 PM: Flood Brook Boys vs MEMS/Dorset School Boys (McClellan Field)
4:45 PM: Maple Street Boys vs Long Trail Boys (Eckhardt Field)
Saturday, October 18: Consolation/Championship Games (Applejack Stadium)
3:30 PM Boys’ Consolation Game
5:00 PM Girls’ Consolation Game
6:30 PM Boys’ Championship Game
8:00 PM Girls’ Championship Game

The MEMS/Dorset Boys' Soccer team filled the nets after winning the Twin Valley Tournament last weekend and now look forward to the MEMS Soccer Tournament on October 16th & 18th at the Dana L. Thompson Memorial Park.
